There is a national shortage of both adult and children's Epipens which has led to the following advice for patients and carers:
Adults: The expiry dates of some Epipens have been extended. The first step is to ask a pharmacy to check if your batch has had the expiry extended by four months.
Adults and children: There are alternative devices available, although supplies are very limited and there may be some delays in obtaining them. If you have been prescribed one of the alternatives Emmerade or Jext please ensure you have read the leaflet carefully as there are differences in the way the pens work, there is a video you can watch online to help.
You may need to try more than one pharmacy to get a supply so it may be helpful to ask for a paper prescription so you can take to a pharmacy of your choice.
Patients are asked to only order when a supply is needed as over ordering may increase demand on the limited supplies available.
